Google continues to dominate the US search landscape, accounting for 72.09% of all US searches conducted in the four weeks ending January 31, 2009, according to data from Hitwise, an Experian Company.
Yahoo Search, MSN Search and Ask.com received 17.81%, 5.44% and 3.31% of search share, respectively, representing an increase over December 2008 for both Yahoo Search and Ask.com.
The remaining 44 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.35% of US searches.
As in the past, search engines continue to be the primary way internet users navigate to key industry categories. Comparing January 2009 with January 2008, Business and Finance, Sports, Online Video and Social Networking categories showed double-digit increases in their share of traffic coming directly from search engines.
As in the past, Google continues to grow as a primary source of traffic to key US industries.
