Notes: Nielsen and Kantar are the top market research organizations both in the US and globally, with Nielsen far and away the leader, according to separate rankings recently released by the AMA and RFL Communications. IMS Health and Ipsos S.A. also rank within the top 5 on both lists, with IBM’s Information and Analytics Group coming in at #3 on RFL’s global list, based on an IDC estimate. The AMA’s top 10 is largely consistent from last year: notable results include J.D. Power and Associates moving up a spot to #10 and comScore’s fastest revenue growth, of 18.8%.

About the Data: RFL’s list takes a somewhat broader view of “research” organizations, including suppliers and IBM (baed on its role as the owner of SPSS, Cognos and Watson). “Unorthodox” research businesses such as InMoment are included, as are those offering direct marketing and targeting, such as Acxiom and Harte-Hanks.
