Google’s Share of April Searches 55%, YOY Growth 42%

An estimated 3.8 billion search queries were conducted at Google search, accounting for 55% of all search queries conducted in April, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, which today released its April 2007 data for the top US search providers.

The top three search providers, ranked by total searches, were Google, Yahoo and MSN/Windows Live Search, with 55%, 22% and 9% of searches, respectively, according to the data. Searches refer to the total number of queries conducted at the provider.

Google also registered the most growth year over year, with the number of searches conducted at Google increasing 42% from April 2006. Yahoo’s YOY growth was 28%, and searches at MSN/Windows Live Search increased more than 7%, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

AOL and Ask.com, with 5% and 2% of April searches, respectively, rounded out the list of top 5 search providers.
